Georgia O’Keeffe, Music – Pink and Blue No.1, 1918
While painting, O’Keeffe occasionally listened to music, translating her emotions onto paper. She herself was not very musical, she loved to sing but acknowledged that she couldn’t – so she painted.
“It is something I wanted very much to tell someone– and what I wanted to express was a feeling like wonderful music gives me” Georgia O’Keeffe, in a letter to Anita Pollitzer, 1915.
